About Meghan — Seed of Life Doula Services
My name is Meghan Jansen, and I am the doula behind Seed of Life Doula Services. I completed my doula certification through the International Doula Institute (IDI) in 2024, and I am honored to support families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
My path to doula work has been shaped by a lifetime of caring for children and families. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education from Michigan State University in 1996 and spent five years teaching middle school, where I developed strong skills in communication, patience, and guidance. While raising my three children, I continued to work closely with families by operating a home daycare for infants and toddlers and by building a successful dog-walking business that serves the local community with compassion and reliability.
These varied experiences—teaching, caregiving, parenting, and serving families in multiple capacities—have all led me to doula work. I hope this broad foundation allows me to meet new parents where they are, offer steady reassurance, and provide practical, evidence-based support during one of life’s most transformative seasons.
Through Seed of Life Doula Services, I offer prenatal support, birth support, and postpartum care, with a focus on calm guidance, confidence-building, and honoring each family’s unique journey. I am proud to serve private-pay clients as well as families with Medicaid coverage, ensuring accessible care for all who need it.
I would be honored to walk beside you as your story unfolds and new life takes root.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
Get answers to common questions about doula services, support, and what to expect.
What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?
A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, but does not provide medical care. A midwife is a medical professional who can deliver babies and provide clinical care. Doulas work alongside your medical team to support your emotional and comfort needs.
Why should I hire a doula?
A doula provides the kind of support that allows families to grow with confidence. At Seed of Life Doula Services, I see each parent as a seed full of potential—capable, strong, and deserving of care. My role is to nurture that strength through calm guidance, practical help, and evidence-based information. Whether you’re preparing for birth, navigating labor, or settling into life with your newborn, having a doula means never walking the journey alone.
Does insurance covers doula services ?
Medicaid in Michigan now covers full doula support, including birth and up to 12 visits that can be used during pregnancy or postpartum. Some private insurance plans are beginning to cover doula services as well, and coverage continues to expand. Seed of Life Doula Services provides detailed receipts for insurance reimbursement and can help you navigate the process. Many families also choose to use HSA or FSA funds for doula care. To ensure support is accessible, payment plans are always available.
What happens if you are attending another birth when i go into labor?
We maintain a backup doula system to ensure you always have support. If I am attending another birth, my qualified backup doula (whom you will meet during pregnancy) will provide the same level of care. This is included in all birth packages at no additional cost.
